While it has never been my habit to wear any jewelry at all (rings or otherwise), I've always harbored an unspoken and deeply held desire to have some item of mine associated with my birthstone; a deep, rich, red garnet. Unfortunately, most available are small and overwhelming addressed to feminine jewelry. There is a true absence of worthy male adornment garnet stones available anywhere. After years of idle search, I found this item and was immediately impressed with its size and cut. After purchase, I took it to Helzberg Jewelers to have their expert remove the chain and weld a much larger rose gold loop (bale) to the existing setting attachment (Cost = $131.00 - but most of that was the cost of the rose gold bale which he had to order). I favor an engraved gold (Hunter case) Swiss-made 17 jewel pocket watch that I place in my shirt's left front pocket. The 12" 18k gold chain is allowed to dangle from that pocket, with the end loop inserted into one of the shirt's button holes. Fastening the button holds the chain loop firmly. This Teardrop Garnet freely slides to the bottom-most part of the chain loop facing forward for display, richly satisfying the only true vanity I've cultivated during my lifetime. At 68 years of age, I'm old, ugly, baldheaded, retired and otherwise useless, but at least one part of me will continue to shine! It's gorgeous...buy with confidence.
